Pattern

Man-Made
This image is of the lights reflecting off the school hallway floor. It works because its different, and forms a more random pattern of tits own.
This a picture of the student passes for photography classt scattered about on a table. This creats a more abstract pattern with the repititon of the passes and the reflection.

Angles

Above
this picture shows both leading lines and rule of thirds. The photo was taken from above, of the nail in a intercecting seam in the pavement. tthe seams and the nail itself give the leading lines. The rule of thirds is shown by the off center line of the nail.

Below
Straight On
I thought this was my strongest photo because of the framing and the siloute used in the framing. the small bit of reflection near the nail accents it as a seprate peice but still incorporated.
Composition
Improve
The bad part of this pictue is the origonal object of the photo does not stand out, the colours are too similar and the nail is hidden. Would definatly try to find better variety with the surrounding next time.

The hardest part of this assignment was having to find different places to shot picturesof a nail without having all the pictures be the same.

Lines

Diagonal
This is on of the structural lines I found around campus. Essentialy the technique was to get as much of the exposed area o f the frame captured. It frames itsself.

 Vertical

This was one of the nicer natural lines, combined with a structure line that gives it focus.

Horizontal

This I felt was my strongest photo because of the distinct leading line toward the background, and the slight reflection of the background on the painted wood .
the most chalenging part was to find enough variations of lines to keep from having the same photo over and over. Also trying to make the camera on the right part of the scene. Well so far the class is pretty simple.

Before and After

On both pictures is a before and then after. Photoshop was only used to brighten, or create a slightly better contrast. This is perfectly acceptable use of the program because it was used as enhancement, rather than alteration.

Composition Techniques

Fill the Frame

Fil the frame typicaly has all the photo with something related, but with a distinct focal point. Here there is a cliff overhang and trees closer up whitch are related the the framed focal point of the watter fall.
Use Lines Effectivly

Leading lines are suposed to leadyour eye to the focal point of the picture. Here the hiker is accebted by the starkness of his surrounding and accented by the ridge line. An extra lead toward the hiker is his trail of footpints behind him.
 Rule of Thirds
The rule of thirds is to create a focal point slightly off center both horozantly and verticly. Here the moon is of to the right and slightly down. Leading your eye to the moon is the row of building lights below, and the palm tree to the left.
