Midterm Portfolio

Rule Of Thirds
Was one I took on my own that I slightly cropped to become rule of thirds. Easy focus because of the bright pink flower, and its the part most in focus. Might have tried for a less crowded background.

Fill The Frame
Simple focal point due to flat background. Would have tried for closer shot or focus on the bee.

Lines
The one green vine leads between the ground and wall and tires them together. I like it as is.

Angles
Felt this was the most fun angles pic, just some friends goofing off. I like it as is.

 Patterns
Lied the pattern of the ivy on the wall being different colours. Could have tried a different angle.

 Framing
Was the best pic where the frame didn't distract while creating focus. Would have wanted a few more options for framing.

ABC's
Was the most creative letter that was already there. Also the most recognizable.

 Shutter Speed
Like the leaves suspended in the air above her head. Could have been a bit closer for better focus.

 Panning
This was the one with the best straight on focus, best timing. Could have focused a little lower.

  Depth Of Field
Loved the colour in the shot and the amount of focus. Wouldn't change any of this one.

Wildcard
This is just a random pic of the sky that's totally unrelated to any of the projects. Wouldn't change it.

DOF Photo Corrected

Before                                                                     After

Panning

One Person Walking
1. Taken at the umbrella court at Serra High
2. Had problems with getting too much exposure with the slow shutter speed
3. Only walking photo I had that didn't have me
4. Tried a quicker shutter speed but it just stopped the motion
5. Stilled could have tried for better lighting.

 One Person Running
1. Taken at Q-hut at Serra High
2. Slight problem figuring out the panning technique
3.This was the clearest shot of running.
4. Tried lower shutter speed, was too washed out.
5.Could always have better lighting

 Two People Running
1. Umbrella Court at Serra High.
2. Awkward lighting with the umbrella shadows.
3. Had good focus on the single person while both were running
4. Most setting were not changing by this point to keep a good exposure
5.Better angle on subject would be nice

 Vehicle Moving
1. Staff parking lot at Serra High
2. Hard to focus at the right time as the cart went by
3. Good focus on subject and good background blur
4. Same settings, just not the best timing

 Vehicle Moving #2

1. Santo Rd. in front of Serra High
2. Timing to get focus on passing cars
3. Good timing and whole car is in shot
4. Same settings throughout
5. Could have tried higher shutter speed

End of the World

I would save Costco because it has so many supplies. Basically there is most everything you could need in Costco from food to clothes. Also, its a big place so if there were other survivors it wouldn't get to bad if they decided to go there too.
Would save my car, or probably my bike more likely, because I'd  need a way to get around. Unless I figured out a way to get gas, it wouldn't run too long. So my bike is more likely but couldn't get a pic of that at school.
Would save the school theater because its where most of my friends are. Plus it wouldn't be a bad place to go, you have roof access and bathrooms. Plenty of  tools too.

Framing

Man Made
This photo worked because it leads your eye to the reflection on the water at the bottom of the hole. The faded bits of paint on the chain create interest.
 Natural
This picture was a goo example of framing because its not actually a border. The palm fronds create a subtle bordering while leading your eye to the center to show Allison and Dumbo.
 Architectural

The framing in this photo is a little iffy, having more lines that take away from the focus on Andrew. Using zoom would have gotten a better shot to focus on his head, where there was less in the way to distract.
